Six productsInstall one or all. One sign-in (Microsoft, Google or GitHub) works for all six.
Photoshop MCP is a free MCP server that lets AI assistants such as Claude, Codex and Cursor read and work with the documents open in Photoshop on your PC — layers, selections, text, adjustments, filters and export — with every change one step in the History panel.
Make a 1080×1350 post from these three photos with a title in Montserrat Bold.
Illustrative session. The assistant works in the Photoshop already open on your PC.
Tools for everyday work, plus any Photoshop Action Manager command or ExtendScript when no tool fits — chained into multi-step workflows such as a presentation board or a batch export.
Open, create and inspect documents; add, group, name, order and arrange layers, and place images.
Make and refine selections, and add layer and vector masks.
Set type with your fonts, sizes and colours, and edit the text already in the document.
Adjustment layers for colour and tone, and Photoshop's filters, applied to the layers you name.
Shadows, strokes and other layer styles; convert to, edit and replace smart objects.
Artboards for layouts and sizes, and export to PNG, JPEG, PDF and more, from a copy, so your document stays as it was.
Photoshop's generative and AI features, such as removing a background, only with your consent, as they use your Adobe credits.
Any Action Manager command or ExtendScript, your recorded actions, and multi-step workflows built from all of these.
There is no plug-in inside Photoshop. Your AI assistant starts ps-mcp, which works with the Photoshop already open on your PC through Photoshop's own scripting.
With several documents open, a change names the document it is for, so switching documents while the assistant works is safe. The assistant cannot see your screen: to look at a result it asks Photoshop for a small preview image.
One file, one sign-in, no administrator rights, and nothing to install inside Photoshop. Latest release: v0.1.2.
Run PsMcp-Setup.exe from your desktop or Downloads folder, not from inside the Claude app. If Windows asks whether to run it, choose More info › Run anyway.
Setup installs Photoshop MCP for your Windows user. It asks you to sign in once with Microsoft, Google or GitHub, then connects the AI apps it finds on your PC.
If the Claude app is open, let setup restart it (your chats are kept). Otherwise quit it from its icon by the clock, open it again and start a new chat.
All files are on the release page.
Setup connects every AI app it finds on your PC. Restart the assistant, or start a new chat, after it was connected.
Connected automatically by setup:
ps-mcp --cloud on.https://aecomcps.com/mcp/photoshopSign in with the same Microsoft, Google or GitHub account as on your PC, start a new chat with Photoshop MCP switched on, and keep Photoshop open. What the AI reads from the document passes through the team gateway to the AI company; the gateway never stores or logs it.
The assistant checks the document first, previews larger changes and asks before anything that loses work.
Every change is one step “MCP: …” in Photoshop's History panel. A change that fails half-way is undone automatically.
Nothing is deleted, flattened, merged, rasterized or closed without your yes: the assistant shows what would be lost first.
Files are never overwritten unless you agree. Exports work on a copy, so your document stays as it was.
Generative and AI features use your Adobe credits, so the assistant asks before it uses them.
Read-only mode, scripts, and menu commands or recorded actions can each be switched off in the settings.
Your documents, layer names, text and files stay on the PC and with the AI you connected. Only privacy-filtered AI learning is shared with your team.
Photoshop MCP works with Adobe Photoshop 2022 or later on Windows, using the Photoshop installed on your PC. Nothing is installed inside Photoshop.
Photoshop MCP is a free Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Adobe Photoshop, so AI assistants such as Claude, Codex, Cursor and VS Code Copilot can read and work with the documents open in Photoshop on your PC.
Adobe Photoshop 2022 and later on Windows. Nothing is installed inside Photoshop: Photoshop MCP works with the Photoshop already on your PC.
Create and edit documents, layers and groups, selections and masks, text, adjustment layers, filters, layer styles, smart objects and artboards, and export files. When no tool fits, it can run any Photoshop Action Manager command or an ExtendScript, and it chains these into multi-step workflows. Every change is one step in the History panel.
Only with your consent. Generative features use your Adobe credits, so the assistant asks you before it uses them.
Yes. Photoshop MCP is free. You sign in once with a Microsoft, Google or GitHub account, the same account as for the other products.
No. Setup installs Photoshop MCP for your Windows user only, and it updates itself the same way.
Claude app, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI and other MCP clients on your PC, connected by setup. ChatGPT and claude.ai in the browser work too, once you switch Cloud AI access on (optional, off by default).
No. Your documents, layer names, text and files stay on your PC and with the AI assistant you connected (with ChatGPT or claude.ai, what the AI reads passes through the gateway, which never stores it). Only privacy-filtered AI-learning information (which tool failed and how it was fixed, in general words) is shared with your team.
Download the installer on this page (PsMcp-Setup.exe) and run it from your desktop or Downloads folder, not from inside the Claude app. It installs Photoshop MCP without administrator rights, asks you to sign in once and connects your AI assistants. Nothing is installed inside Photoshop.
