Revit MCP and Navisworks MCP work on the model open on your PC. This page explains, in plain terms, what they send anywhere, what they never send, and what the AI assistant you chose sees.
Model, project, client, file and element names and values stay on your PC. What leaves it is only what the AI learns about using the tools — which tool failed and what fixed it, with names and numbers removed — so your team's assistants avoid the same mistake. The full policy is on the privacy page.
| Shared (AI learning) | Never shared (stays on your PC) |
|---|---|
| Which tool failed, with its error message without names and numbers | Model, project, file and view names, file paths |
| Which option made it work, in generic words only (for example a category such as Walls) | Element, level, type, sheet and parameter names and values |
| The Revit or Navisworks version and the add-in version | Geometry, drawings, the computer name |
| Bug reports when the add-in itself fails, with names, numbers and paths removed | What you asked, and the tools' inputs |
| Advice the AI writes about using the tools, recipes someone deliberately saves, and general playbooks without project names | Every script the AI runs |
Names and numbers are removed on your PC before anything is sent, and the service removes them again on arrival.
The AI assistant you connect — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another — reads the results of the tools it calls, because that is how it answers you. Those results can include model information, and the AI company handles them under its own terms. Choose the assistant and plan that suit your company's rules. Revit MCP's own service never receives that content.
ChatGPT and claude.ai in the browser can reach your PC only through Cloud AI access, which is off until you switch it on, per PC. Then their requests and your PC's answers pass through the gateway on their way to the AI company. The gateway passes them on without storing or logging their content; it keeps sign-in tokens for the connector only as one-way hashes. Switch it off at any time.
When you sign in with Google or GitHub, the service keeps your name, e-mail address and account identifier, so contributions can be attributed and access can be withdrawn. Your password is only typed on Google's or GitHub's own page. The service also notes when a Revit or Navisworks with the add-in was last running on your PC and its version; only the administrator sees this, and it says nothing about your models.
